In discussion with Martha Hunt
Bombshell beauty Martha Hunt is who we are celebrating today for our #galvanizeyourworldseries. The down to earth supermodel and philanthropist talks us through her styling tips, inspiration and ways she's changing the world through her scoliosis research and findings. We couldn't be more excited to share this gorgeous woman!
How did you start your career?
I started my career after winning a modeling competition at the age of 14 but I didn’t commit full-time until a few years later after graduating.
What’s a cause that is important to you?
I’ve teamed up with surgeon scientist, Dr. Sariah Khormaee MD PhD, on a non-profit for scoliosis research, specifically getting women trained to do this type of research. Together we are looking to find an improved understanding of the spine and create equal access to high quality care worldwide.
Most rewarding aspect of your work?
Having the opportunity to build a platform that brings visibility to the scoliosis community. Living with the condition and still finding success has given me a sense of responsibility. Working with others towards making global impact has given me perspective on what matters.
What inspires your style?
Lately I’ve been gravitating towards art to help me experiment with different color palettes. I’m inspired by icons like Lauren Hutton and Kate Moss, also the streets of NYC — love the mix of streetwear and high fashion. Functional but chic!
What are the three things you can’t live without?
A good playlist, matcha lattes, and the NBA League pass!
Jumpsuit or dress?
What do you find the most challenging?
When my passions and ambition are underestimated.
What’s your ultimate styling advice?
Style is the ultimate way to represent your most true, confident self. Don’t be afraid to experiment and show off different sides of your personality. At work, dress for the job you want, not the job you have!
What’s your mantra?
Challenge yourself every day.
